Artist’s Statement

How can an artist in British Columbia not be influenced by the amazing, breath-taking scenery that is everywhere in our province? So many of my paintings are landscapes. So many are the result of living on the west coast of Vancouver Island and in the Lower Mainland. And so much of my work is the result of trips around the province.

I work in oils and in soft pastels and my work is not limited to landscapes. Through painting, I enjoy exploring the unusual shapes and colour variations found in plants such as flowers, succulents, and cacti – one more way to be influenced by the earth!
